ChatFogRas

Chat (Left) using Kochihan, Race (Top) using Souryuu Zankouken, and Fog (Bottom) using Rage Laser.

Fog, Chat, & Race are protagonist characters from Tales of Eternia. Fog (フォッグ Foggu) is the leader of a resistance group named "Shileska". Chat (チャット Chatto) is the pilot of the ship "Van Elitia". Race (レイス Reisu) is a senior knight who is in the guise of a travelling merchant. All of them, together with Rid Hershel, helped saved the world from the evil machinations of Shizel and Nereid.

In ACS, All three characters work together in battle but only one of them can be present on the field so they would call a character and switch with him/her if the incoming character would use one of their artes. Fog uses his craymel cannon to shoot elemental attacks from a long distance. Chat has a bag filled with pirate tools and excels in mid-range and anti-air combat. Race uses his Saint Rapier and is a specialist in close range battles. All three characters work together to off-set their weaknesses, with each character possesing different stats. Fog has the worse movements stats but is the strongest of the three. Chat is the weakest but has a somewhat average flexibility. Race is the fastest and his power is somewhat an average of the two.

Fog, Chat, and Race are all-round characters and are surprisingly not difficult to use.

Advanced Tips & Combos[]

Battle Strategy[]

Here are some tips on how to use this character in battle:

  • When you use Fog, it's best to spam Air Blade and Aqua Spiral, with the two goals of either building up enough TP to use Elemental Master or forcing the opponent to get closer.
  • Chat's sole use is to counter enemy approaches. If they come from the air, use Pikohan or one of its variants and follow it up with another blast from Fog. If they come on the ground, use Robber Item. Speaking of Robber Item, the move can be canceled mid-animation into another Arte, so try to switch to Race for a follow-up.
  • As noted, Race should be switched to as soon as Chat stops the opponent's approach with a Robber Item. His limited movelist, however, basically forces him into using either Souryuu Rengazan with a Souryuu Zankouken follow up, or a Akisazame with a Fuurajinken follow up. Your main goal with Race is to use Kyokkouken to blow the enemy away, allowing you to switch back to Fog and restart.

General Use Combos[]

Wall Push/Steal Combo[]

  • Melee Attack X2 > Akisazame > Souryuu Rengazan > Robber Item/Souryuu Rengazan
  • Quick Input Version:
  • A > A > →←→B > ↓←→B > ↓←D/↓←→B
    • Notes:
      • A simple combo used to push an enemy against a wall or steal an item.
      • Has good synergy with the Wall Combo since Chat will be out after the combo if the steal version is used.
      • Use Robber Item on the 6th hit of Souryuu Rengazan or use the 2nd Souryuu Rengazan just as the 7th hit lands on the first one.
      • Use the 2nd Souryuu Rengazan if you want to corner an enemy against a wall and use the steal combo if you want to switch to Chat so you can use the Short Range Wall Combo.

Simple Knockback Combo[]

  • Melee Attack X2 > Akisazame > Fuuraijinken > Souryuu Rengazan > Kyokkouheki
  • Quick Input Version:
  • A > A > →←→B > ↓←→C > ↓←→B > ↓↓E
    • Requirements and Notes:
      • TP for Kyokkouheki.
      • A simple knockback combo.
      • You must use Fuuraijinken as soon as Race lands on the ground after using Akisazame.
  • Contributed by Minarie 16:49, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

Long Range + Heal Combo[]

  • Overlimit Lv2 > ( Aqua Spiral > Burning Force )X5
  • Quick Input Version:
  • ↓F > ↓→C > ↓→A > ↓→C > ↓→A > ↓→C > ↓→A > ↓→C > ↓→A > ↓→C > ↓→A
  • 30 Hits. Damage is about 2/5 of Kakashi Scarecrow's HP (500).
    • Requirements and Notes:
      • Overlimit Bar must be set at Lv2.
      • You can connect Aqua Spiral and Burning Force together but it requires timing, press the command simultaneously with the first hit of both artes.
      • Since Fog is in Overlimit status, Aqua Spiral will heal his HP for every time it is used.
  • Contributed by Minarie 16:49, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

Wall Combo []

  • Melee Attack X3 > Pikohan > Melee Attack X3 > Pikohan > Melee Attack A > Melee Attack C > Pikohan > Melee Attack X3 > [Note 1] > Akisazame > Fuuraijinken [Note 2] > Souryuu Rengazan [Note 3] > Kyokkouheki > Kyokkouken
  • Quick Input Version:
  • A > A > A > ↓←A > A > A > A > ↓←A > A > C > ↓←A > A > A > A > [Note 1] > →←→B > ↓←→C > ↓←→B > ↓↓E > E
  • 50 Hits (No Kochihans were used). Damage is about 70% of Kakashi Scarecrow's HP (500).
    • Requirements:
      • Chat must be on the battle field.
      • Enemy is against a wall.
      • TP for Mystic Artes.
    • Notes:
      • Note 1: You can insert a combo here that is based on luck using Chat's Kochihan. Kochihan will hit the enemy twice and has a good chance to freeze the enemy. Ignore this part if you don't want to risk it.
      • Note 2: Timing here is necessary, use Fuuraijinken as soon as Race lands on the ground after using Akisazame.
      • Note 3: Use Souryuu Rengazan as soon as possible to connect the combo together. You can opt to use Overlimit after Souryuu Rengazan to extend the combo but this is up to you.
  • Team Fog's basic wall combo. Pretty strong and can be extended further by using Overlimit.
  • Try using the Wall Push/Steal Combo to set up for this combo.
  • Contributed by Minarie 05:13, June 24, 2011 (UTC)

Simple Damage Combo[]

  • Fog/Race 3 Hit Melee (AAA) > Aqua Spiral > Akisazame > Souryuu Rengazan > OVL2 > 3 Hit Melee (AAA) > Aqua Spiral > Akisazame > Souryuu Rengazan > Kyokkouheki > Kyokkouken
  • 66 Hits, 369/363 total damage.
    • Accomplishing this combo with the Fog leader is not worth the extra 6 damage, as the TTL after the last hit is almost Non-existent, and it requires a start against the wall.
    • TTL after Aqua Spiral is short, be quick!
    • This combo does not require a wall to begin, however, you must be against the wall when you OVL in order to continue past it.
  • Try using the Wall Push/Steal Combo to set up for this combo.

Highest Damage Combo[]

  • Melee Attack X3 > Pikohan > Melee Attack X3 > Pikohan > Melee Attack A > Melee Attack C > Pikohan > Melee Attack X3 > (Fuuraijinken [Note 1] > Souryuu Rengazan > Kochihan [Note 2] > Melee Attack X3) > Akisazame > Fuuraijinken [Note 1] > Souryuu Rengazan > Overlimit Lv2 > Melee Attack X3 > Akisazame > Fuuraijinken [Note 1] > Souryuu Rengazan > Robber Item [Note 3] > Rage Laser > Souryuu Rengazan [Note 4] > Souryuu Rengazan > Kyokkouheki > Kyokkouken
  • Quick Input Version:
  • A > A > A > ↓←A > A > A > A > ↓←A > A > C > ↓←A > A > A > A > (↓←→C >↓←→B > ↓←C > →←→B > A > A > A) > →←→B > ↓←→C > ↓←→B > ↓↓F > A > A > A > →←→B > ↓←→C > ↓←→B > ↓←D > ↓→D > ↓←→B > ↓←→B > ↓↓E > E
  • 106 Hits. Damage instantly kills Kakashi Scarecrow (HP 500).
  • Parts of the combo encased in open and close parenthesis "()" depends on chance and may be omitted if desired.
    • Requirements:
      • Chat must be on the battle field.
        Tales_of_ACS_v5.503_Fog,_Chat_&_Race_Instant_Kill_Combo_(106_Hits)

Tales of ACS v5.503 Fog, Chat & Race Instant Kill Combo (106 Hits)

Fog, Chat & Race's highest damage combo at 106 hits.

      • Enemy is against a wall.
      • TP for Mystic Artes.
      • Overlimit Gauge set at Lv2.
    • Notes:
      • Note 1: If Akisazame was followed previously by this arte, make sure to enter the command for Fuuraijinken when Race lands on the ground. Connecting this arte to Souryuu Rengazan requires timing and fast command input.
      • Note 2: Kochihan has a chance to freeze an enemy's movement for a second. The combo will fail if the enemy isn't frozen so this part of the combo heavily relies on chance. Omit the part of the combo encased in open and close parenthesis if you don't want to rely on chance.
      • Note 3: Use Robber Item on the 6th hit of Souryuu Rengazan.
      • Note 4: Connect the 2nd Souryuu Rengazan just as Race hits the enemy with the 7th hit of the 1st Souryuu Rengazan.
  • Fog, Chat & Race's strongest combo.
  • Try using the Wall Push/Steal Combo to set up for this combo.
  • The combo can actually get to 107 hits if the last hit of Souryuu Rengazan is connected without invalidating the combo.
