Cless Alvein (ACS3D)

Cless using Shishisenkou.

Cless Alvein (クレス・アルベイン, Kuresu Arubein) also locally known as Cress Albane, is the kind and polite main character from Tales of Phantasia and is a playable character in ACS3D.

Cless is a kind hearted apprentice swordsman born and raised in the village of Toltus. He embarked on his journey alone at the start to get revenge on Dhaos for murdering his family and the entire village. Eventually, he meets certain people both from the past, present and the future that helped him thoughout his journey in saving the world.

In battle, Cless uses a one-handed sword style from the "Albane School of Sword Fighting" inherited from his father. He can also use time-space sword techniques granted by the Eternal Sword which gave him the title Eternal Swordsman.

"Cless Alvein" also appears as a cameo support character for Klarth F. Lester in the original ACS.

Unlocking

1. In the first part of the story mode, choose Luke Fone Fabre (L path) and win against Rid Hershel.
2. For the second part of story mode, choos Cless Alvein (R path) and win against Luke Fone Fabre.

Character Facts and Usage Tips

• By default, Cless has 50 SP.
• Aside from his normal movement actions, Cless can perform a High Jump, Forward Step and Backward Leap.
  • His Forward Dash has average speed.
  • His Forward Step has average length and speed.
  • His Backward Leap has below average length.
  • His High Jump is double of his normal jump.
  • Cless' Aerial Dash and Backward Aerial Dash cannot be chained after a High Jump. 
  • Cless can perform a Double Jump once his Aerial Jump skill has been activated.
  • Cless' Aerial Dash has and Aerial Backdash both have average range and speed.
• Cless has 3 basic ground melee attacks and 2 basic aerial melee attacks.
  • Cless' basic ground melee attacks consists of the following:
    • A downward slash by pressing A. 117 damage and 1 hit.
    • A forward thrust by pressing B. 117 damage and 1 hit.
    • An upward slash by pressing C. 169 damage and 1 hit. Has a slight knockback effect.
    • Cless can chain 2 of his 3 ground melee attacks successively (e.g. A > B, B > C or A > C.) Pressing A twice produces the A to B attack combo.
  • Cless' basic aerial melee attacks consists of the following:
    • A downward slash by pressing A or B. 169 damage and 1 hit. Knocks enemies back.
    • A downward thrust by pressing C. 156 damage and 1 hit.
    • Both aerial attacks can be connected to Cless' ground melee attacks if properly executed.

Chain Order

• Cless' normal chain order consists of the following:
  • Melee > Base > Arcane > Mystic
  • The Super Chain skill allows Arcane artes to link with Base, as long as doing so does not exceed the number of artes allotted.
  • The Ability Plus skill allows the chain of two consecutive Base artes once per combo.

Requirements	The Super Chain skill must be disabled.
Combo Notes	Time the use of this command quickly to connect it to Majin Hienkyaku after the first cycle. Press the command just as Cless lands on the ground and his cape starts to move. If the enemy is cornered against a wall, the command will have to be inputted after Cless is slightly pushed back after landing.
