- This page covers facts and in-depth game usage of the character, Dhaos. For a comprehensive reference list of in-game commands, see Command List: Dhaos.
Dhaos (ダオス Daosu) is the main antagonist in Tales of Phantasia. He originally came from the planet of Derris-Kharlan and is one of the leaders of the country who sought to prevent a war in their planet. Due to an incident caused by his own people, his home world lost its mana producing tree which promted Dhaos' travel to the planet of Aselia to look for a new mana source. Giving in to the darkness of his own heart, he did all that is necessary in order for him to obtain a new mana source even as to slaughtering Cless Alvein's village and other innocent people who get in the way of his objective.
Dhaos is a very powerful spell caster and martial artist. He can use a few strike artes, cast high level spells, use energy beams/blasts and other powerful artes to obliterate his enemies in an instant. His stats are considered above average with not being able to jump as his only weakness.
Dhaos is not very difficult to use and is recommended for beginners and veteran players.

- Blaster
- Dhaos Collider (Dhaos Blast)
- Dhaos slams his palm into the ground to create a force field around him.
- Another of Dhaos' signature attacks.
- It's a relatively good end move for a combo. Has the same difficulty with combo's after it as Dhaos Fang and Rising Assault.
- The timing to connect this to Mystic Artes is when the enemy is about to air-tech.
- TTS is Very Fast. TTL is Short.
- Dhaos Laser
- Dhaos charges up a powerful energy beam and shoots it.
- Dhaos' signature attack. Has a really long range far exceeding the screen's length.
- During Overlimit Lv1, the time necessary to charge Dhaos Laser is shorter.
- During Overlimit Lv2, Dhaos Laser requires no charge time to use.
- It's not advisable to use this one as a combo move, except when in Overlimit.
- Despite being part of Set C artes, it cannot be chained to Mystic Artes.
- If the AI uses this arte, it will always have no charge time.
- TTS is Slow but Average during Overlimit Lv2. TTL is Non-existent.
Spells[]
- Tetra Spell
- Dhaos launches three fireballs and if they hit, he continues with three Ice Needles, a Lightning spell, and Glaive.
- One of Dhaos' signature moves. Not very effective in a combo due to its compatibility with the others.
- Despite being part of Set B artes, it can only be chained to a Mystic Arte.
- This arte is multi-elemental. Fire, Water, Wind and Earth respectively.
- TTS is Slow. TTL is Average but only artes under Mystic can be chained.
- Tride
- Dhaos uppercuts and shoots one triangle under an angle and lobs another to somewhat before him.
- During Overlimit, he shoots two more under different angles and lobs one further in front of him.

- TTS is Fast. TTL is Non-existent.
- Circular
- Dhaos launches several small balls of light that all follow a different and nearly circular path.
- At mid-range from Dhaos, there is a certain spot in which an enemy can stand and not get hit by this arte.
- TTS is Fast. TTL is dependent from the number of hits taken by the enemy and when they were hit. It ranges from Non-existent to Very Short.
- Hidden
- Dhaos becomes completely invulnerable for a short amount of time.
- Invulnerability time is about three to four seconds.
- Enemies can pass through Dhaos during this arte.

- Can stagger enemies with penetrate status.
- Costs TP.
- TTS is Slow. TTL is Long.
- Ray
- Dhaos calls rays of light to strike the earth.
- It is more effective if the opponent is not close to you or is in mid-air.

- Cannot be chained to any other arte.
- Costs TP.
- TTS is Fast. TTL is Non-existent.
- Rock Mountain (Rock Pillar)
- Meteor Swarm (Meteor Storm)
- Dhaos sends meteors to blast the screen in front of him.
- It's difficult to get a lot of hits, but can easily be used to surprise your opponent.
- Using this arte while Dhaos is cornered against a wall would produce a Meteor Swarm with lesser meteors than normal.
- Can only be used during Overlimit.
- TTS is Slow. TTL is Average.
Mystic Artes[]
- Million Assault
- Chaos
- Dhaos rises into the air a distance and then unleashes all hell upon anything that's roughly underneath him.
- Difficult to get a lot of hits with, but forces your opponent to move away from you.
- This arte is unblockable.
- Using this arte before the enemy can air-tech can inflict them with Air-tech Disable.
- TTS is Slow. TTL is Non-existent.
- Giga Dhaos Laser
- Basically a powered up version of Dhaos Laser.
- Dhaos is invulnerable during startup.
- This is a great finisher after a combo as it will hit the opponent even if he/she is lying on the ground.
- This inflicts Air-tech Disable if used while the enemy is staggering in mid-air.
- TTS is Slow. TTL is Non-existent.
- Big Bang
- Dhaos first gathers a lot of energy and then lets everything go with a single bang.
- Upon activation it tries to hit the opponent; if successful, the opponent can't move (Grabbed status effect) until Big Bang's completion.
- If blocked, Dhaos will simply be invulnerable and still hit the enemy.
- The two-hit blast from this attack cannot be blocked.
- The amount of TP consumed is low enough to use this attack again right after completion.
- The damage of this arte decreases as the combo count increases.
- Can be chained to most of Dhaos' Mystic Artes or Overlimit.
- Can only be used when in low HP or during Overlimit.
- Big Bang cannot be used in a combo if low HP is the criteria met to use this arte.
- TTS is Very Fast. TTL is Very Short.
- Super Dhaos Laser
- Dhaos' Mystic Arte from Tales of Vesperia. Dhaos creates a glyph with four colored circles on it behind him. From these circles same colored bolts will be fired towards the opponent. After a short while, Dhaos will replace them with four colored beams.
- Can only be used in Overlimit or with low HP.
- You can continue the combo after this arte but you have to use an arte that can hit an enemy whilst they are downed (Confirmed) on the floor. (e.g. Last Ray).
- The damage of this arte decreases as the combo count increases.
- TTS is Average. TTL is Long.
