Presea

Presea using Shikou Metsuryuusen.

Presea Combatir (プレセア・コンバティール Puresea Konbatiiru) is a seemingly 14-year old lumberjack in the small town of Ozette from Tales of Symphonia. Quiet and somewhat taciturn, Presea cannot express any emotions, as her specially-grown Exsphere suppressed her emotions until she was cured by Lloyd Irving and company.

Presea is extremely strong in battle, wielding an axe that is roughly twice her size without much trouble. She can only use melee strike artes which can deal devastating amounts of damage. Presea's overall movement capabilites are weak, which puts her at a severe disadvantage against spellcasters or ranged attackers, but in a melee battle, she can easily overpower her opponents with combos that can cause Guard Break or knock opponents back.

Character Facts[]

  • Presea has 640 HP.
    Presea

Presea's one and only victory pose.

  • She only has one victory pose.
  • Presea has one of the smallest hitbox in ACS.
  • Zelos Wilder will say something unusual when he faces Presea in battle.

General Tips & Usage[]

  • Presea plays similarly to Yuri Lowell, but sacrifices range for more aerial options and better TTL on most of her artes. Like Yuri, she deals massive damage, especially in the corner, and can put solid pressure on a guarding opponent, especially in the corner. Moves like Bakusaizan and Houshuugeki give her a safe air-to-ground option, and Bakkairenbu and sometimes Hoshuu Chigakujin allow her to attack a blocking opponent without much fear of punishment. She can even use Reppa Enshougeki to punish opponents not willing to be proactive.
  • Presea's main weaknesses are approaching the opponent from afar and lack of solid range on most of her moves. She has one of the slowest run speeds in the game, and none of her artes really help her approach the enemy from afar. Her range also isn't very good, and most of the cast can outspace her range with just regular melee attacks. You have to be patient if you want to get in, and once you do, you can not let up. The reward, however, is astounding.
  • Presea has excellent attack power, HP and defense against Guard Break but has below average movespeed, dash length and jump height.
  • Presea takes 30% and 10% less damage from Earth and Dark-elemental attacks respectively but takes 30% more damage from Wind-elemental attacks. (Please refer to this page for more information on ACS Elements).
  • Presea can perform the movement skills available to most of all the ACS characters except for Double Jump, High Jump and Backward Leap.
    • Presea's ground backdash is relatively quick, as are her air dashes, but they cover very little distance, and the low speed of her ground dash makes it diffcult to press an attack.
    • In Overlimit Lv2, Presea's forward dashing speed increases significantly.
  • Presea has two basic melee ground attacks (A & B) and a basic knockback attack (C).
    • Her C ground melee attack has a great knockback effect.
  • Presea has only one aerial melee attack (A, B, or C). It immediately disables enemies upon hit.
  • During Overlimit Lv1 status, Presea is given a Penetrate counter of 5 hits. This makes her more difficult to stagger until the penetrate counter is depleted to 0.
    • For each hit taken, the penetrate counter will be reduced by 1.
    • The penetrate counters will not disappear even if Presea's Overlimit status expires.
    • The penetrate counters will immediately be removed if you or the enemy use a mystic arte.
    • During Overlimit Lv2, the penetrate counter is set to 10 hits instead of 5.
    • The penetrate counters, if Overlimit is used while Presea still has existing penetrate counters, will not stack with each other. Instead, they will be reset back to 5 or 10 depending if Overlimit 1 or 2 is used.
  • Presea's naturally small hitbox allows her to evade some specific artes and combos used by other ACS characters.
  • Most of her Artes have Short TTL values, or have higher-than-average recovery periods, so timing is vital to linking her attacks together properly, and it's best to stick to short combinations that are guaranteed to hit.
  • Her chain orders consist of:
    • Melee > Base > Master > Arcane > Burst > Mystic
    • When in Overlimit Lv2, her chain order is ignored.

Advanced Tips & Combos[]

Battle Strategy[]

Don't let your opponent get away, ever. Presea has terrible mobility outside of Overlimit 2, so she absolutely needs to keep her victims trapped against a wall, at which point she can bring her overwhelming damage and guard break potential to bear. Sousenrenbu (especially the aerial version, connected off of a Kougetsusen) is one of her best wall-push artes for this purpose. Also, Presea's Overlimit burst is unblockable and doesn't push the opponent back at all, making it very easy to combo out of it, so use it aggressively; Presea rarely has to use Overlimit bursts defensively. A well-timed Overlimit 2 unblockable burst into a devastating combo (just wall-push, then spam Raishuuhougeki) will take a turtling opponent out of the game instantly.

General Use Combos[]

Easy Combos[]

  • Kougetsusen > Shougetsushousen/Gessenkuuha > Shoubu Retsugekka
    • A fast, multi-hitting combo that's good for putting distance between you and your opponent. Not always very safe, as the opponent can recover between Kougetsuzen and Shougetsu/Gessenkuuha, and between Shougetsu/Gessenkuuha and Shoubu Retsugekka. For maximum pushback, use Gessenkuuha and stop the chain there.
    • Alternatively, the Kougetsusen can be used to set up for any Master or Arcane Arte that can be used in midair.
  • Hoshuugeki '> Houshoushuugeki > Hoshuu Chigakujin
    • The pressure combo. Requires fairly decent timing to pull off the cancels correctly, but is very good at grounding an opponent or keeping them grounded. Has a fairly short range, though, so it's dangerous to throw out randomly.
    • Alternatively, Hoshuugeki can be used to set the opponent up to be hit by any Master or Arcane Arte.
  • Kougetsusen > Sousenrenbu > Kuusen Rentenbu
    • Kuusen Rentenbu's aerial version has excellent knockback, making this one of Presea's best setups for keeping her opponents where she needs them: in the corner.

Advanced Wall Combo[]

  • Melee Attack X2 > Kougetsusen > Hoshuu Chigakujin > Melee Attack X2 > Kougetsusen > Gansaishuugeki > Bakuen Hakougeki > Reppa Enshougeki
  • Quick Input Version:
  • A > A > ↓ A > ↓ ← D > A > A > ↓ A > ↓ ← C > ↓ → E > ↓ ← → E
  • Total Hits = 23.
  • Damage is 3/4 of Kakashi Scarecrow's (500) HP.
    • Requirements:
      • Enemy is against a wall.
      • TP for Reppa Enshougeki.
  • Presea's wall combo, easy to use but packs a lot of power.
  • Tall characters such as Dhaos and Synch can air-tech before Gansaishuugeki (↓ ← C). Replace it with Bakuenshouha (↓ → C) for such characters.
  • Skipping the initial two melee attacks and inserting an aerial Sousenrenbu (→ ← → B) before Hoshuu Chigakujin can allow the combo to be started farther from a wall.

Instant Kill Combo[]

  • Melee Attack x2 > Kougetsusen > Hoshuu Chigakujin > Melee Attack x2 > Kougetsusen > Gansaishuugeki > Kuusen Rentenbu > Overlimit Lv2 > ( Melee Attack x2 > Kougetsusen > Gansaishuugeki > Hoshuu Chigakujin ) Repeat until OVL Bar is almost empty > Raisen Goutenbu > Reppa Enshougeki
  • Quick Input Version:
  • A > A > ↓ A > ↓ ← D > A > A > ↓ A > ↓ ← C > → ← → D > ↓ F > ( A > A > ↓ A > ↓ ← C > ↓ ← D )X Repeat Until OVL is almost empty > D > ↓ ← → E

Tales of ACS v5.503 Presea Combatir Instant Kill Combo 1 (101 hits)

Presea's Instant Kill combo at 101 hits.

  • Total Hits = 101.
  • Damage instantly kills Kakashi Scarecrow (HP 500).
    • Requirements:
      • Enemy is against a wall.
      • TP for Reppa Enshougeki.
      • Overlimit Bar set at 2.
  • Presea's instant kill combo, has a lot of requirements but its fairly easy to use.
  • Though the timing is mildly more strict, Presea's best damage in Overlimit 2 comes from spamming Raishuuhougeki rather than the above parenthesized loop.

Highest Damage Combo[]

  • Kougetsusen > Sousenrenbu [Note 1] > (Melee Attack x2 [Note 2] > Kougetsusen > Sousenrenbu [Note 1]) Repeat until the enemy is cornered against a wall > Melee Attack X2 > Kougetsusen > Gansaishuugeki > Kuusen Rentenbu > Overlimit Lv2 > (Melee Attack X2 > Kougetsusen > Gansaishuugeki > Hoshuu Chigakujin ) Repeat until OVL Bar is almost empty > Raisen Goutenbu > Reppa Enshougeki
  • Quick Input Version:
  • ↓ A > → ← → B > ( A > A > ↓ A > → ← → B )X Repeat until enemy is cornered against a wall > A > A > ↓A > ↓ ← C > → ← →D > ↓ F > ( A > A > ↓ A > ↓ ← C > ↓ ← D )X Repeat Until OVL is almost empty > D > ↓ ← → E
  • Total Hits = 125.
  • Damage instantly kills Kakashi Scarecrow (500 HP).
    • Requirements:
      • Combo must start at the very end of the battle field were Presea is cornered against a wall.
        Tales_of_ACS_v5.503_Presea_Combatir_Insant_Kill_Combo_2_(125_Hits)

Tales of ACS v5.503 Presea Combatir Insant Kill Combo 2 (125 Hits)

        Presea's highest hit/damage combo at 125 hits.

      • Enemy must constantly try to air-tech after every Kougetsusen.
      • TP for Reppa Enshougeki.
      • Overlimit Bar set at 2.
    • Notes:
      • Note 1: Wait for the enemy to air-tech before using Sousenrenbu.
      • Note 2: Wait for the screen to shake or for the enemy to land on the ground before attacking with Presea's normal attack A.
  • Presea's highest damaging combo. It a theoretical combo that only works against an enemy who constantly tries to air-tech all the time.
