Hilda Rhambling (ヒルダ・ランブリング Hiruda Ranburingu) is the second playable character in ACS from Tales of Rebirth. She is described as being a beautiful, yet cold-hearted, fortune teller who is also a Half, an offspring of a Huma (Human) and Gajuma (Beast Man). Despising this fact about her, she removed her horns and hides her beast-like ears under her cap.

In battle, Hilda uses tarot cards to help cast her powerful offensive spells. She is also gifted with the Force of Lightning, and can use many elemental spells that are very difficult to evade once casted. All of her stats are below average and she has a very low comboability, because most of her spells cannot combo into others.

Hilda is recommended for intermediate and veteran players only due to her difficulty to use.

  • She is the only character in ACS that can purposely chain multiple Mystic Artes together.

General Tips & UsageEdit

  • Hilda has below average movement speed and jump height. All of her stats are below average.
  • Hilda's defense against Guard Break is considered average. After roughly 40 hits, her guard will break.
  • Hilda receives 40% more damage from Fire Elemental attacks and 20% less damage from Water and Light Elemental Attacks. (Please refer to this page for more information on ACS Elements).
  • Hilda can perform all the basic movements in ACS except for High Jump, Double Jump, Forward Step and Backward Leap.
    • Her running speed is very low.
    • Her backstep is very quick but has poor range.
    • Her normal jump only reaches half of the screen.
    • Her air dashes are considered below average as compared to the other characters.
  • Hilda has three ground melee attacks (A, B, & C) and no aerial melee attacks.
    • None of Hilda's attacks can be used in the air.
  • Hilda's Overlimit Lv1 decreases her casting time and after cast delays.
  • Hilda's Overlimit Lv2 increases the power of all her non-Mystic artes and allows her to use spells with no casting time with even lesser after cast delays than Overlimit Lv1.
  • Her chain order consists of:
    • Melee > Magic > Arcane > Mystic (Extensions)
    • The Melees do not combo into Magic though their commands chain from one into another.
    • Chaining Hilda's spells together allows her to use them without the need for casting.
    • Most Magic Artes do not connect very well to Arcane Artes due to TTS and TTL differences and other reasons.
    • After casting Ground Dasher, another Magic or Arcane Arte (except Shining Ray) can be instantly casted again if performed just after the enemy lands on tha ground.

  • Stone Break
    • Hilda casts a spell that causes rocks to jut from the ground all around her.
    • Range is 35% of the screen's length on both sides of Hilda.
    • This arte is always instantly casted.
    • Good against melee attackers trying to approach you. Chain this arte to Ground Dasher to further knock the enemy back or use the Strategic Loop Combo.
    • This spell is alligned with the Earth element.
    • TTS is Average. TTL is Average.
  • Aqua Stream
    • Hilda casts a spell that causes a torrent of water to buffet the enemy.
    • Range is 100% of the screen's length.
    • This arte is always instantly casted.
    • Hilda's secondary long range attack. Has a small delay before the water appears.
    • This spell is alligned with the Water element.
    • TTS is Slow. TTL is Average.
  • Shining Ray
    • Hilda casts a spell that summons a glyph of light to appear above the enemy, raining down streaks of light.
    • Range is 100% of the screen's length.
    • This spell cannot be blocked.
    • This spell can be instantly casted if used during Overlimit Lv2.
    • This spell is alligned with the Light element.
    • TTS is Slow and Average if instantly casted. TTL is Average.

Arcane ArtesEdit

  • Cluster Raid
    • Hilda casts a spell that summons four sharp rocks to fall from the sky. Disappearing after several seconds.
    • Range is 20-75% of the screen's length.
    • The rocks can still hit the enemy as long as they don't disappear. That can be used to do small combos.
    • This spell can be instantly casted if used after Melee Attack X3, during Overlimit Lv2 or after Ground Dasher.
    • This spell is alligned with the Earth element.
    • Two additional rocks fall when Hilda is in Overlimit.
    • TTS is Slow regardless if casted instantly or not. TTL is Very Short.
  • Freeze Lancer
    • Hilda casts a spell that summon a frosty glyph in front of her, from which five icicles are fired from.
    • Range is 100% of the screen's length.
      • Optimal distance is point blank (10% of the screen's length).
    • This spell can be instantly casted if used after Melee Attack X3, during Overlimit Lv2 or after Ground Dasher.
    • This spell is alligned with the Water element.
    • Five additional icicles are fired at the enemy when Hilda is in Overlimit.
    • TTS is Slow and Fast if instantly casted. TTL is Short.
  • Flash Tear
    • Hilda casts a spell that summon a cross-shaped glyph to appear under the enemy, radiating a bright energy that damages the enemy.
    • This spell can be instantly casted if used after Melee Attack X3, during Overlimit Lv2 or after Ground Dasher.
    • Range is 100% of the screen's length.
    • This spell is alligned with the Light element.
    • TTS is Slow regardless if casted instantly or not. TTL is Short.
  • Ground Dasher
    • Hilda casts a spell that causes numberous rocks to burst from a fissure in the ground.
    • Range is 100% of the screen's length.
    • This spell can open chance for restarting a chain if it hits the enemy when it's almost finishing.
    • This spell can be instantly casted if used after during Overlimit Lv2 or after Ground Dasher.
    • In Overlimit status, this spell leaves a big time for restarting the chain opening opportunities for a whole arsenal of combinations.
    • Another spell can be casted instantly after this arte if timed properly.
    • This spell is alligned with the Earth element.
    • Requires TP.
    • TTS is Slow and Average if instantly casted. TTL is Average and Long during Overlimit.
  • Frigid Coffin
    • Hilda casts a spell that causes ice to gather into an enourmous icicle, which slams into the enemy.
    • Range is 100% of the screen's length.
    • This spell can be instantly casted if used after during Overlimit Lv2 or after Ground Dasher.
    • This spell is recommended to be used after Ground Dasher as a combo finisher.
    • This spell is alligned with the Water element.
    • Requires TP.
    • TTS is Slow and Very Fast if instantly casted. TTL is Average.
  • Divine Saber
    • Hilda casts a spell that summons a glyph beneath the enemy's feet. Several bolts of lightning pummel the enemy, followed by an burst of explosive energy.
    • Range is 100% of the screen's length.
    • The last lightning bolt strike and burst of energy is unblockable.
    • This spell can be instantly casted if used after during Overlimit Lv2 or after Ground Dasher.
    • This spell inflicts Air-tech Disable if used at a proper position.
    • Cannot be chained to any other arte.
    • This spell is alligned with the Wind element.
    • Requires TP and for Hilda to be in Overlimit.
    • TTS is Slow and Fast if instantly casted. TTL is Non-existent.

Force ArtesEdit

  • Lightning Robe
    • Hilda uses the power of the Force of Lightning to defend herself with lightning.
    • Requires TP.
    • The lightning shield disappears after Hilda finishes casting any spell or after some time.
    • This arte is alligned with the Wind element.
    • Gives Hilda five hits of the Penetrate status, or one hit on the enemy.
    • TTS is Average.
  • Limited Sorcery
    • Hilda uses the power of the Force of Lightning to prevent herself from staggering when an enemy attacks while she is casting spells.
    • Requires TP.
    • Gives Hilda an unmarked Penetrate Status when casting spells. Disallowing cast interruption for 10 hits.
    • TTS is Average.

Cameo ArtesEdit

  • Goureppa
    • Tytree Crowe comes to Hilda's aid by thrusting both palms at the enemy, pushing them away.
    • Disables enemies after knocking them back
    • Requires TP.
    • TTS is Slow. TTL is Long.
  • Hiou Goushouga
    • Tytree Crowe comes to Hilda's aid by charging to the ground and thrusting both palms at the enemy, releasing a shockwave of energy.
    • Range is 100% of the screen's length.
    • Disables enemies after knocking them back
    • Requires TP.
    • TTS is Slow. TTL is Long.
  • Gouretsu Rengadan
    • Tytree Crowe comes to Hilda's aid by charging to the ground and thrusting both palms at the enemy, releasing a burst of energy.
    • Moderate knockback effect.
    • Requires TP.
    • TTS is Slow. TTL is Long.

Mystic ArtesEdit

  • Dual the Sun (Dual the Sol)
    • Along with Eugene Gallardo, Hilda uses her magic to crush the enemy between two suns.
    • The damage of this arte greatly decreases as the combo count increases.
    • Requires TP.
    • TTS is Fast. TTL is Non-existent.
  • Prismic Stars (Prism Stars)
    • Hilda uses her magic to pummel the enemy with multiple, multicoloured planets.
    • The damage of this arte greatly decreases as the combo count increases.
    • Requires TP.
    • Press 'E' during Dual the Sun.
    • TTS is Instant. TTL is Non-existent.
  • Brightest Gate (Shining Gate)
    • Hilda uses her magic to barrage the enemy with bursts from a blue star.
    • The damage of this arte greatly decreases as the combo count increases.
    • Requires TP.
    • Press 'E' during Prismic Stars.
    • TTS is Instant. TTL is Non-existent.
  • Explosion Nova
    • Hilda uses her magic to incinerate the enemy with intense solar energy.
    • The damage of this arte greatly decreases as the combo count increases.
    • Requires TP.
    • Press 'E' during Brightest Gate.
    • TTS is Instant. TTL is Non-existent.
  • Blue Earth
    • Hilda uses her magic and the power of the earth to heal her wounds.
    • Requires TP and for Hilda to be in Overlimit.
      • The best way to do this is by going into Overlimit with almost two bars and starting the chain.
    • Press 'E' during Explosion Nova.
    • Heals 100 HP.
    • Can only be used once per battle.
    • TTS is Instant. TTL is Non-existent.

Advanced Tips & Combos Edit

Battle Strategy Edit

Hilda is a really vulnerable character and needs distance for casting spells and attacking effectively. She depends on the distance to use her spell and is completely defenseless while close to an enemy. In order to keep space, Hilda has Tytree Crowe's Cameo Artes that knock the enemy back, though she can't move while Tytree attacks. Hilda can also count on her big range and effect spells like Cluster Raid, Freeze Lancer, Ground Dasher and Frigid Coffin. When on Overlimit, it's imperative to get the enemy into Ground Dasher, in order to repeat Shining Ray and Ground Dasher in a loop for massive damage through the Overlimit.

  • Total Number of Hits: That combo is strategic.
  • Damage depends on how the enemy will react and how long is the combo repeated.
    • Requirements:
      • TP for Ground Dasher.
    • Notes:
      • Note 1: Its input should be done as fast as possible. The quicker it's done, harder it gets for the enemy to get out of it.
      • Note 2: The parenthesis should be repeated as long as possible in order to keep the enemy into that. As soon as it's done properly, the TP cost of Ground Dasher is replenished by the combination.
  • This combo has high potential and forces enemies to Overlimit Counter (I'm not sure if there is any opponent that can evade that). It can be used both for repeatedly damage the enemy which can be surprised by the loop or force people who already understood it into wasting the Overlimit Gauge. Use it wisely!

  • Damage is approximately 90% of Kakashi Scarecrow's life (500 HP).
    • Requirements:
      • Enemy must be cornered.
      • Full TP.
      • One Overlimit Gauge (at least).
    • Notes:
      • Note 1: This is not part of the combo and is there just to mention you have to be in Overlimit status.
      • Note 2: This should be done as long as you're on the Overlimit Status. Input Aqua Stream's command when the enemy is taking the last hit of Ground Dasher and input Ground Dasher's Command as soon as possible.
      • Note 3: In order for this to be successful, the TP gauge must be full, or REALLY close to it. If you don't have enough bar to go until Explosion Nova, save your gauge don't using Dual the Sun as its damage get down really fast as the combo counter increases.
  • It can have more hits if used with the Overlimit Gauge between Lv1 and Lv2. In that case, She will not be able to use Explosion Nova (most likely). In order to get that result shown there, Stone Break must be used as soon as possible.

      • Note 3: Always use Shining Ray on the 8th hit of Ground Dasher.
      • Note 4: Always use Ground Dasher before the enemy almost touches the ground while being hit by Shining Ray. Once Overlimit is over, the last arte used should be Ground Dasher.
      • Note 5: Once the enemy touches the ground use Frigid Coffin. If executed properly, it will have no casting time.

  • Update: No longer works on v5.505b and up. Shining Ray has been nerfed and cannot be instantly casted unless Hilda is in Overlimit Lv2.

Story ModeEdit

Hilda has a total of 4 Story Modes, ranging from Easy to Mania. Note that all modes including and preceding Hard feature opponents that come in "Rounds", meaning that the field, positions, and statistics (HP and otherwise) will reset once an opponent is defeated. Modes after Hard feature opponents that come one after another, meaning that the fields, positions, and statistics of your character will not reset once an opponent has been defeated. However, A portion of your HP is refunded whenever an opponent is defeated in Mania Mode.
