- This page covers facts and in-depth game usage of the character, Kohak Hearts. For a comprehensive reference list of in-game commands, see Command List: Kohak Hearts.
Kohak Hearts (コハク・ハーツ Kohaku Haatsu), known locally as Kohaku Hearts (and once Amber Hearts), is the main heroine from Tales of Hearts. She and her brother, Hisui Hearts, were attacked by a woman named Incarros during their search for Soma (Tales of Hearts term for special weapons that can damage Zerom, monsters that eat spirunes or hearts), leaving Kohak in a critical state. With her brother's healing artes having no effect, Shing Meteoryte attempts to save her using his grandfather's Soma and succeeded but accidentally shatters Kohak's spirune (her heart) in the process, along with her emotions, to the different parts of the world. With Kohak having only one emotion left, Shing promises to her and Hisui Hearts that he will help them recover Kohak's spirune shards.
Kohak battles with her martial arts and spells augmented by her Soma "Elrond" (エルロンド, Erurondo), a baton shaped like weapon. Her strike artes mostly contain different kicks and fire-based physical attacks. She can cast a number of Fire, Wind and Light spells and is considered as a good support character. As compared to other ACS characters, Kohak has above average to average stats except for her HP.
Kohak is a good character to use overall and is pretty powerful but her infinite combos require some practice to master.
Character Facts[]
- Kohak has 450 HP.
- Kohak starts the battle with a pose using her Soma.
- She has two victory poses.
- Shing Meteoryte fell in love with Kohak at first sight.
- If Kohak faces Shing, he will let out a surprised scream after Kohak tells him she's serious.
- If Kohak loses to Shing, Hisui Hearts will appear and kick Shing's butt off the screen.
- Kohak can summon Hisui Hearts, her brother, to support her in battle.
- If Hisui deals the killing blow, he will also perform his victory pose with Kohak.
General Tips & Usage[]
- Kohak has an above average jumping height, movement speed, attack power, an average dash length and below average HP.
- Kohak is neither difficult nor easy to have her guard broken.
- Kohak receives 30% more damage from Earth Elemental attacks and 20% less damage from Fire Elemental Attacks. (Please refer to this page for more information on ACS Elements).
- Kohak can use all basic movement abilities available to most ACS characters.
- Kohak's Double Jump reaches the top of the screen.
- Her High Jump and Double Jump have the same height.
- Her Forward Step is very low and has moderate range and speed. Her Backward Leap, unlike most characters, is more like a low backwards jump in that she can air-dash out of it both forwards and backwards.
- Kohak's forward and backward air dash costs 1 CC to execute. She can chain her different air dashes as many times as she wants for as long as she has enough CC.
- The only exception to this is that she cannot chain two backward air dashes consecutively.
- Kohak has two kinds of melee ground attacks (Using the A button) and a basic riser attack (B then tap ↑). She also has two kinds melee aerial attacks (Using A button consecutively & B).
- Most of Kohak's aerial artes can be canceled by doing a forward air dash or backward air dash just before the arte has been fully executed. This move is known as Dash Cancel (DC).
- During Overlimit Lv1, some of her spells have shorter casting time. During Overlimit Lv2 some her spells have no casting time or reduced casting time requirement.
- In order to have a system close to the one in her original game, Kohak uses a Chain Capacity (CC) Gauge, enabling her to use many different artes in her combos as long as she has enough CC to use each arte.
- Kohak starts with 11 CC. This number increases by 1 every time a combo costing 3 or more CC is completed. Once her CC reaches 12 though, the number will revert back to 11 after the next combo.
- If the combo was in the air, the CC Gauge replenishes when she lands.
- During Overlimit Lv1 1, Kohak's maximum CC starts at 14. During Overlimit Lv2, Kohak's CC is frozen at 14.
- Kohak starts with 11 CC. This number increases by 1 every time a combo costing 3 or more CC is completed. Once her CC reaches 12 though, the number will revert back to 11 after the next combo.
- Kohak's chain order consists of:
- Melee or Any Arte Type > Melee or Any Arte Type > Melee or Any Arte Type > etc.
- If her Combination Blasters are used, the combo will immediately end.
- If her spells are chained after certain strike artes, these spells would either have reduced or no casting time.

Advanced Tips & Combos[]
Battle Strategy[]
General Use Combos[]
Advanced Short Range Combo[]
- Melee Attack A > Riser Attack B & Riser Jump > Hiouzanka [Note 1]> Saishinkyaku > Byakka Senrendan > Saishinkyaku > Stream Arrow > Forward Dash [Note 2]> Jump [Note 2] > Aerial Attack B [Note 2] > Enbujin [Note 2] > Byakka Senrendan > Saishinkyaku > Cross Wind > Flare Bomb
- Quick Input Version:
- A > B then tap ↑ > ↓←A > ↓→A > ↓D > ↓→A > ↓→←B > →→ > ↑ > B > ↓A > ↓D > ↓→A > ↓→←C > ↓←→A
- Total Hits = 27
- Damage is almost 1/4 of Kakashi Scarecrow's HP (500).
- Requirements:
- Starting CC is set at 12.
- Notes:
- Note 1: This arte is used in mid-air. Wait for the enemy to land on the ground before using Saishinkyaku.
- Note 2: After using Stream Arrow, the enemy can air-tech so these steps should be done quickly. The enemy will be shown air-teching but will be unable to block the upcoming Aerial Attack B. Use Enbujin quickly in mid-air. This is the hardest part of the combo.
- Kohak's bread and butter combo version 1.
- All spells used in this combo have no cast time requirement.
- This combo greatly pushes an enemy against a wall.
- This combo does not work against Suzu Fujibayashi due to her small hitbox.
- This is not quite a true combo (see Note 2). It will work if the opponent doesn't have a technique with a 1-frame startup that (s)he can use in the air (air-teching seems to require more than 1 frame before the invincibility activates), but some boss characters do -- for example, Nereid can use Explode before the aerial B connects.

Counter Combo[]
- Byakka Senrendan > Kououtenku > Photon [Note 1] > Byakka Senrendan > Maou Engekiha > Maou Engekiha [Extension] > Flare Bomb or Wind Cutter or Satsugeki Bukouken [Note 2].
- Quick Input Version:
- ↓D > ↓←E > →←→A > ↓D > ↓→C > C > ↓←→A or ↓→←A or E.
- A total of 26 hits if Satsugeki Bukouken is not used and 40 hits if Satsugeki Bukouken is used.
- Damage is about 1/5 of Kakashi Scarecrow's (500) HP if Satsugeki Bukouken is not used. Damage is almost the half of Kakashi Scarecrow's HP (500) if Satsugeki Bukouken is used.
- Requirements:
- 40% TP for Satsugeki Bukouken (Optional)
- Notes:
- Note 1: Use Photon immediately as soon as Kohak lands on the ground. It will have no cast time and will inflict the Confirmed status change if the timing is correct. The enemy will land on the ground with a Long TTL. Wait for your CC Gauge to recover before using Byakka Senrendan for the second time.
- Note 2: The arte you will use here depends on your starting CC. If there is only 1 CC left after using Maou Engekiha [Extension], use Flare Bomb (Requires certain timing to hit properly). If Kohak still has 2 CC left, you can choose between Wind Cutter or Satsugeki Bukouken.
- Kohak's bread and butter combo version 2. Very easy to use, deals a huge amount of damage and has very few requirements.
- Idealy used after blocking a short range attack.
- You can extend the combo further by using Overlimit if the enemy is against the wall.

Infinite Kououtenku/Houotenku Combo (v5.503 and below only)[]
- Byakka Senrendan > Kououtenku > Photon [Note 1] > ( Melee Attack A > Kuuga Ranshuusen > Aerial Melee Attack B [Note 2] > Kououtenku or Houotenku [Note 3] ) X As many times as you want.
- Quick Input Version:
- ↓D > ↓←E > →←→A > ( A > ↓→D > B > ↓←E ) X As many times as you want.
- Total Hits is dependent on an enemy's HP since this is an infinite combo.
- Damage instantly kills Kakashi Scarecrow (500 HP) at around 294 Hits.
- Requirements:
- Enemy is against a wall.
- Notes:
- Note 1: Use Photon immediately as soon as Kohak lands on the ground. It will have no cast time and will inflict the Confirmed status change if the timing is correct. The enemy will land on the ground with a Long TTL. Wait for your CC Gauge to recover before using Melee Attack A.
- Note 2: The timing here is very important. Press B just as you see Kohak's head is at the same level as that of the enemy's body. The timing will also change depending on the enemy's size and other situations. As the number of hits increase (Around 100ish hits) B must be pressed earlier than usual.
- Note 3: Press the command for Kououtenku or Houotenku at the same time as Kohak's Aerial Attack B hits the enemy. Incorrect timing would not connect Kououtenku or Houotenku. Wait for your CC Gauge to recover before pressing Melee Attack A to repeat the cycle.
- Against enemies with larger or smaller hit boxes than Kakashi Scarecrow (e.g Dhaos), Kohak will end up the one cornered against the wall. Using Houotenku instead of Kououtenku and adjusting your timing with the Aerial B Attack will solve this problem.
- Kououtenku seem to work better against enemies with a hit box size equal to Kakashi Scarecrow.
- Kohak's ultimate wall combo. A little tricky to execute as certain situations call for changes in the combo.
- Like any infinite combo, enemies can use Overlimit to escape.
- Update: The portion: ( Melee Attack A > Kuuga Ranshuusen > Aerial Melee Attack B [Note 2] > Kououtenku or Houotenku [Note 3] ) no longer works as of v5.505b and up.
